Bleed

-

By Melissa IngoldsbyPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

I can’t bleed for you, my body

Scares me

I’m bleeding from the neck to the sole of my foot

I can’t breathe for you, I’m not going back to the Joshua trees

They scare me

Like God This is heaven

On earth, you are heaven

But heaven bleeds secrets that seep

I’m not even being

Dramatic

I’m dreaming

Dressed in rags

Angels creeping

The Angels cry

Crying in an exhausted exaltation

I strike the ground with the blood of Adam

I want his rib to heal my soul

God please heal me

I’m dying without bleeding

I strike the earth with my hands like the First Man

Forever, I’m drowning in believing

Forever, I’m just trying to find Miraculous Returns in Blood

Rage that boils into grief

Are you crying over the loss of the mortal body

Or the sins that created your sunset fall?
