Bleakest Raven Black

A Poem

Bleakest raven black as the night is my morning

Lying solemnly in wait for another new dawning

As another ashen day looms heavily over me

Chaos and despondency are raging inside me

Killing my self-worth and confidence dead

*

Darkened desires entrenched in my tortured mind

Open wounds festering, so opulently enshrined

Goodness replaced with nothing but dread

    Very clever acrostic!

Every line of this is so well written Paul! 'the night is my morning Lying solemnly in wait for another new dawning' has to be my favourite though! Like 'The night is my morning"?? That says so much. My goal is to write a line that powerful!

Loved the acrostic (and noticed as I was reading)! Such a dark poem, and sadly a little too relatable at times. Excellent work :)

  • Your poem portrayed exactly how I'm feeling now. Loved it!

The story sounds like an Ernest Hemingway story! Well done! You’re a good writer!

Oh- do I feel this. I hope it’s just writing and not actual. Great work

I agree with Mike. Very well written, but dark.
