Blaze of the Salamanders
Watching as they curse the next in line

Blaze of the Salamanders
The fire roars like a beast untamed,
flames leaping, hissing, striking the sky,
and the salamanders writhe in its heart,
red bodies glinting, alive with hunger.
Sparks fly like arrows from their tails,
smoke curls around their flickering forms,
their eyes glow with ancient, knowing heat,
and the blaze bends, obedient to their dance.
Logs split and shiver under their weight,
cracking, bleeding fire into the air,
salamanders coil, twisting through tongues of flame,
whispers of heat brushing my skin.
I reach into the inferno, daring, trembling,
their laughter spills in tongues of smoke,
my fingers scorch with a kiss of flame,
yet I cannot tear my eyes away.
They surge, a wave of living fire,
walls, shadows, and memories consumed,
and the blaze burns higher, brighter, stronger,
a symphony of heat that will not die.
Ash spins like snow in the glowing storm,
and the salamanders vanish in sparks,
leaving the fire roaring, untamed, eternal,
a heart of flame that will not forgive.
The night is swallowed, the air trembles,
embers rain like blood on the ground,
and I hear the fire whispering its secrets,
salamanders singing in tongues of heat.
The blaze bends, slow, curling in exhaustion,
but the red eyes linger, watching, alive,
and even as the last logs crack and fall,
I feel the fire pulse beneath my feet
