I miss the words that used to flow
when my fingers hit the keys,
the euphoria of having something to say.
• • •
Now, all I have
is a blank stare.
Coffee clasped in my hands,
tired eyes staring at the screen.
Was it always this blinding?
Overwhelming?
• • •
I hope one day soon
to reach into the keyboard
and drag the old me back out.
I’ll dust her off,
tell her she’s been missed,
and slink away into the shadows.
• • •
But for now, all I have
is this other me
with the brain fog
and blank stare.
