The Essence of a Rainbow

By Dexter MathisPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
A rainbow and all it's color absorbed. Living with the soul of darkness

Back to black the essence of me, sophistication of a masterpiece

My gaudy colors do not dwindle as you see, in the coldness of stares of my resentful enemies

I wear myself proud, a power like no other, I wear myself loud, the security of my brothers

In a world of oppression there’s a hushed heaviness, but in my heart is an elegance I must vest

In eyes so blue a malevolent shaded hue, is an insensible soul who wishes to undo

The struggles of my past, the intelligence that I cast, to believe me unfit of even the lowest of class

For my color is too bold, too abundant to uphold, too deep to unfold, oh you know how the story goes

In their world of unawareness, in their world of disavowal, in a world they’ve made, a world so vile

For color isn’t blind but blind be thy colors, it controls who we are, how fast and how far

How high and how low in this world we will grow and yet most do not know

With more colors you would think the lovelier a picture that one could paint

Yet those who have none believe somehow that they’ve won yet, the war of my color has only just begun

Back to black the epitome of me, a unique personification with no diluted mockery

I am the fear they have dreaded so long, for my strength is boundless, my frivolity gone

I am every color, every spec, and every hue, I am the beginning of world...a world brand new

Free of cruelty, self-doubt and gloom, for I am the rainbow that is forever in bloom
