Black and White Reality

By Constance Jones

By Constance JonesPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

After a long hard day I sink

To the ground of my closet

To watch in a trance

The colours play on my screen

For awhile they distract me

Make me happy

And for a moment

They briefly keep my mind from screaming

I pretend to fly

Off into a sunset saturated with

Orange, white, and pink

I forget to think

I sleep under a sky

Of midnight turquoise

The stars and the moon

Proudly showing their ecstasy

After sleeping gently

I wake up to a bright yellow dawn

Staring in the revelation of reverie

I let it take my breath away

Look with delight to find a horizon

Waiting for...

What happened?

I hear a loud noise

My dreams shatter

It's the killjoys

I jump out of my closet

And proceed to disguise myself

As one of them

Locked in a world of black and white
