Bitter Rainbow

Of Life

By Lynn WestonPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I am Grey, like the dawn of an overcast day

As you soon come to realize the kaleidoscope beyond my eyes

As I start my days, I long for beautiful sun rays

Enlivined by their pure Yellow bliss

A day I wouldn't soon miss

To escape the bleak darkness so Black,

I think to a few hours back,

when life changed on a dime, from a much more radiant time

In hindsight, I had it all, until I got that fateful call

Now here, I stand, a harsh reality at hand, my life in a frightening freefall

Shattered into pieces, shards of different hues

My heart encased in ice, my spirit feeling the Blues

How could you have left me? How did I miss the signs?

I'll never know the answer, yet I replay things in my mind.

My tears could fill a riverbed, surrounded by Green pastures

The only bit of comfort I get, is hoping for a life hereafter

One in which we'll meet again, I promise to hold you tight

My dearest baby brother, you colored my life with light
