Bitter Battleground

Hell on Earth

By Brandy ReckawayPublished 9 years ago • 1 min read

Sunshine warms my face

as I wake up once again.

I tread this bitter battleground

awaiting my bloody end.

Distantly I hear a scream;

A piercing wail in the night.

I wipe my tear filled eyes

and march onward to the fight.

I plaster on my smile

to hide my shattered soul.

I hide my abysmal thoughts

so the world will never know.

But I am falling to despair.

Suicidal thoughts keep turning.

The darkness ensnares.

No fire within me burning.

An endless abyss;

Just an empty talking shell.

A soulless body treading

this bitter battleground of hell.
