I was born with a wooden spoon

in my mouth

that my parents had fashioned

from what they could scrounge

together

Now the Earth sings

when I proof bread

using my great grandmother's recipie

and when I stitch cloth

the way my mother taught me

and use all the tools I've gathered

to fix

broken things

while weaving together

words

that show the beauty found

in simple

wooden

spoons

born a renaissance woman

it is my birthright

to create
