Failed haiku on life: wan’cup’tea don’wan’make kitchen t’ far Mark "Rent-boy" Renton : [narrating] Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suit on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?

Lila's Legacy: The Wisdom of Eldergrove
Among a sacred and enduring forest, Eldergrove village, a tiny one, was situated. The villagers were humble, and they closely lived with the nature to which they returned what they owned by the nature and took only what they required. Not far away from them was a young woman named Lila, who all trees could describe their language into her ears. A kind and gentle heart was her own, she has every soul in her hands. Then, one incredible afternoon, Lila was moving past areas that she had never wandered that far before, and she discovered a hidden glade mysteriously bathed by golden rays. The most beautiful tree had its limbs spread out at the heart of the grotto and its silver leaves that glittered in the sun rays. Upon her arrival, she was greeted by the sight of a small leather bound manuscript entrapped in the root clusters, carefully wrapped in the foliage that was the color of emerald, and adorned with intricate patterns of gold. Gloriously, she raised the volume with her heartbeat exactly the same and opened it. Through this sentence the character's bond with the book became stronger. Thus, the first sentence reads, 'She was silent, barely a whisper.

A telegram to Little Me
I acquired a magical souvenir; it was a realisation. By taking an impulsive trip to Thailand, I awarded myself the chance to have it. You are our own gift shop. You choose the opening times, you choose the stock. They are the very nature of wisdom, realisations. One could say we collect them and form a magnificent portfolio entitled Experience. And that's why we do the majority of things we do. But travelling is the act most generous in the offering of experience, the gift shop with the best stock. We go on the hunt for experiences, daring ourselves to be stimulated in new ways, by new flavours. To sweat, swim or shiver in the waters of new challenges. To hear new sounds, learn novel outlooks, and relish as hinges creak with unknown doors opening in our hearts and minds. This realisation and the flourishing effect it had upon me made Thailand my best trip yet. All this realisation consisted of was merely a stripped back epiphany of why we do these things. See new places, take new risks, seek refreshing distractions from all that we're tired of being familiar with.
