Beyond The Gate

October

A photo I took on the way to work

October mornings awaken

Under a blanket of fog

Stirring under the moon

Balancing like birds on a wire

Extending her invitation

To gather round an old wooden table

Absorbing the earthy smells of her hearth

Apricot skies spread

Like warm jam on toast

Tantalizing the tastebuds and enticing the imagination

Window sills capture the drizzling dew of chilled air on warm panes

Like a cool glass of water leaving rings of perspiration, changing form by the fire

Daring droplets escape, finding rest in the grainy timber of her table

Outside the sky spins her magical pallette, choosing and changing colors from soft shades of amber to brilliant crimson

Like an artist lovingly doting on his latest masterpiece

Playfully, the breeze stirs the delicate, mosaic leaves

Like a gourmet meal simmering on the stove

Calling all to witness her majesty and experience the taste of her hospitality

Skillfully enticing all of the senses

Yes….

Beyond the gate, October waits

So…

What are you waiting for?
