Beyond the Forced Smile
Recovering from the Exhaustion of Emotional Labor
At all times, learn to calm yourself.
Don't tell others how sad, kind, or lucky you are. Learn to calmly interpret everything you experience.
Your heart is so tired. You are in a bad mood, yet you have to smile. It takes even more energy to control your emotions when you have to force that smile. Your fatigue isn't from being busy, but from excessive emotional labor.
Just because you say you're tired doesn't mean others will lighten your burden. Just because you share your joy doesn't mean others will genuinely bless you.
Life is a journey of self-cultivation. Many paths must be walked alone, experienced alone, and digested alone.
Movement and stillness are both normal parts of life. Stillness breeds wisdom, allowing for clear vision. Reality teaches that calming down truly benefits you, allowing you to identify what you need most and find your goals.
Spend your time and energy on important things. Quietly accumulate strength, overcome difficulties, and shift your mindset so that life can continue.
Find strategies to maintain balance between your mind and body. Life will find a way. There are policies above, and countermeasures below; this is the way of life.
