Beware What's Broken

It comes in with a thunderous surprise

Unstoppable, and unknowingly dark

Change is subtle but wears no disguise

And before the clocks fine, change is before your eyes

The peace and the quiet of it all

The joys of times simply so unknown

It all becomes something special before fall

And someday you'll know not all was shown

With the spring comes a new world of wonder

Laughter and cheer mix with the ravaged mind

None have yet to see what boils from down under

It's the coming heat they've yet been able to find

In the heat of the night when the world starts shaking

The ugly eyes of tomorrow peak from below

But what is it that's there for the taking

That's still not something the breaker will show

Etching it's way into all lives

The demons beneath begin to rumble

It's cutting into hearts with the sharpest of knives

Around the breaker, things begin to crumble

To wear the face of an angel for you

It comes with but one mission and path

Making noise and draining things through

And you're not knowing you already feel it's wrath

It takes you by the pieces, bit by bit

Robbing from everything around

And all the world is burnable by their hit

Their evil still remains unfound

Pushing and edging to the end of a cliff

Blindly following their devilish lead

Still unable to accept the what if

They're serving a far more selfish need

It all comes down in the inevitable end

And their hand is finally laid down

They were never what you saw, friend

You never saw the devil's crown

Broken and alone you find your place to be

And they seem to go back to the palace

But at the end, no one gets away judgment free

Of that we all may find much solace

There comes a time when all must pay for their sins

And those who break things not theirs suffer

And sooner or later it eventually begins

Consequences and punishment no buffer

The real devil rises and vanishes in a night

Finally takes the penance that is owed

Then is gone without a sight

The real devils back down the road

You thought you were the devil

But you've not paid your due

Keeping it on the level

The devil's coming for you
