Between Blinks

the body asking for gentleness

My body awakens trembling.

My eyes struggle to stay open,

fluttering with every blink.

.

My breath is light,

but my lungs feel unstable—

as if the air forgets

how to settle.

.

Where am I?

Each movement feels

like shifting mountains,

every conversation

gone in the wind.

.

What time is it?

My system slips

into autopilot,

carrying me through a day

I’m not fully in.

.

I move because I must,

not because I’m here.

I feel her—

the deeper version of me—

heavy beneath

the hunger for sleep.

She begs for sunlight,

but all I can give her

is hope.
