Better Every Day

Same old Static

By Annam M GordonPublished 3 months ago 1 min read

We rise before the sun, grateful for the grind, affirmations blooming like cheap cologne on our tongues.

The mirror nods at our optimized routines, cold plunge, green juice, metrics tracking every breath.

Better every day.

The timeline fills with proof: sculpted shoulders, curated calm, a caption for every minor conquest.

We monetize our healing, sell the wound as wisdom, turn trauma into content that converts at 3%.

Friends become case studies, lovers quarterly reviews.

Better every day.

Yet the nights grow louder with the same old static, the scroll that never fills us, the goals that shift like sand.

We optimize the corpse until the spirit starves, polishing the cage and calling it transcendence.

The children watch us chase versions of ourselves that never arrive, and learn the liturgy by heart.

Better every day.

And when the final metric flatlines, when the feed goes dark, we’ll be remembered as the ones who almost made it, perfect in the archive, flawless in the cloud, a cautionary selfie no one dares to delete.

Better every day.
