Best Not

Thoughts Entangle

Best not

Tied like turkey on thanksgiving, but no one gives gratitude anymore

Laid to roast face down so the giblets stay moist

Spirit can’t egress

Stuffed with sorrow and regret

Hope that cuts easier than bones under breasts

Caged-hearts set free

To be cut up for the stuffing on the side

Lines drawn in the sand

Self betrayal, double-crossed

Like “little”

Teapots pouring cups of tea

Tops peeled back further than convertibles

Racing on streets through the broken neighborhoods of hearts still incarcerated in private penitentiaries of manipulation and greed

Transformers humming a tune of high-voltage

Though, no lights are lit

Darker than the ocean floor buried beneath the guidance of new moons

Heavier than the weight of this salty tomb

Stones thrown through the windows of empty souls

Stripping frames for copper

Stealing flavor from the melting pot

Soiling the good names of atrocious men

Who tied nooses

With the best knots

Strong necks couldn’t brake the head-rolling of the forefathers pointing with crooked fingers

Towards beaches bloodier than Normandy

Not paradise but this is retreating

Boarding boats to flee the scene

Of marriages built on green

Hills of money where

Love talk is inflated and still

Relationships don’t float

Matrimony has certainly seen

Better knots

Tied by time

Rather than humans running full speed ahead with baby Bambi legs

Soft earth under feet

Sink

Quicksand

Panic?

Best not.
