She Who Came Into Being by Herself

By Erykah HillPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
Isis was the ancient Egyptian goddess of motherhood, magic, death, healing, & rebirth.

Conceived in a pitch black womb,

And suspended in the cosmos for 264 days,

I counted 264 million stars.

I entered the white light

Of the last star I wished on,

And took my first breath.

I beat the odds 400 trillion to one

Because I was the one born.

Beating the odds over and over

By being reborn again and again.

Emerging from this cosmic slumber,

My skin is stained brown and red

Covered in the dirt and blood of my dead.

Their consciousness lives on

Through the little voice in my head.

I will never forget the trial of tears

I shed as I enter the white light

And am suspended in blackness again.
