He stands on a bloody stage,
his audience all dead.
He slaughtered them within his rage,
and watched them as they bled.
Not a tear graced the floor,
Not a soul heard them mourn.
Their screams remained frozen inside their shallow morgue.
He stood, admiring them breathless,
their bodies all torn.
Loving the rhetoric he asks himself,
Just what he’d done that for.
And as he attempts to absorb the warmth from their decaying flesh,
He growls at the haunting inside of him that hadn’t gone away yet.
For while he ravenously prowled the streets of the lifeless,
Crossed his path, unbeknownst to him, an Enchanting Empress.
With her eyes shut wide open, she came forth to the heinous.
Bargaining him to shred her skin so she too may be blameless.
Despite his curious ambivalence,
the beast in him conceited.
For never had anyone so ostentatiously pleaded,
To abdicate their barren soul for a purpose he’d not seen yet.
