beneath the twilight

calm space

By ayesha nadeemPublished 6 days ago 1 min read

I saw you standing by the old oak tree,

The memories flood back, a tide I can’t contain.

The days when laughter was easy, carefree,

Now shadows drape our joy with silent pain.

Do you remember the summer skies so blue?

How could I forget the warmth of those days?

We danced in the rain, our spirits flew,

And now we drift apart in a quiet haze.

I wish we could go back, just for a while,

To where our hearts first began to sing.

I still see your smile, your gentle smile,

Yet feel the weight of what this distance brings.

Can we not find a way to mend this rift?

I’ve tried to reach, but words seem to fall.

Every bridge we build, the winds seem to lift,

But I’ll keep trying, I’ll give it my all.

Hold on to hope, don’t let it slip away,

With every dawn, a chance to start anew.

In this twilight, I see the break of day,

And in your eyes, the love that still rings true.
