At first, many were skeptical. “It’s just a rumor,” one woman insisted, clutching her baby. “They always exaggerate.” “Ma’am, the dam’s gone!” Tommy urged, desperation seeping into his voice.

“You need to grab your things and go. We don’t have time for debate!” In the library, Mrs. Jenkins’s voice boomed through the PA system, urging residents to leave immediately. She felt a surge of purpose; this was her moment to protect her town’s history, its people.

“Gather your belongings! Head to the old schoolhouse! Move quickly!” As the minutes ticked by, the distant roar of rushing water grew louder, a reminder of the danger drawing ever closer.
