A small group formed around them, a mix of townsfolk who had come together through shared experiences but never quite as allies. There was old Mrs. Jenkins, the town librarian, with her encyclopedic knowledge of local history.

Next to her stood Jake Thompson, the gruff mechanic with a soft heart. And then there was Liam, a high school dropout who spent more time on the river than in a classroom. Clara looked at this unlikely assembly. “We have to split up.

Tommy, you and Jake go to the west side of town and alert the folks there. Mrs. Jenkins, you take the library and use the PA system to broadcast the warning.
