Beneath Babylon’s Blue Baldachin

Blasted bliss

Beneath Babylon’s blue baldachin,

Boldly brocaded by blazing blooms,

Bazaar brokers busily bargain,

Buyers bankrupt—but business booms.

.

Bearded blacksmiths, bare-boned beggars,

Brave bards, bankers, bubbly bakers,

Borrow beyond barren budget books,

By bling besotted: bounty-bent brutes.

.

Bedtime-bound Babylonians, buoyantly,

Bring back bejeweled beauties, blithely,

Beneath bedchambers, beautifully built,

Bright-baubled basements brilliantly brim.

.

But behind bright buildings, brawny-bricked,

Babes, before blissful, babbling bestir;

By breakfast, Babylon’s bought beauty

Blindly becomes banal burglars’ booty.

.

Beneath Babylon’s black baldachin,

Bleakly bespeckled by bleeding blooms,

Bruised, bludgeoned bazaar businessmen

Belabored byes breathe—but business booms.
