Being Seen

verse 2

By Forest GreenPublished 2 months ago • 1 min read

For too long I’ve faded in and out of the light,

A ghost in the shadows, a ghost in the night.

I swallowed my words and I swallowed my pride,

With nowhere to stand and nowhere to hide.

I blended right into the wallpaper grey,

Hoping nobody would look my way.

I wore my silence like a heavy lead coat,

With a million unspoken dreams in my throat.

But something inside me has started to spark,

A fire of hope that is piercing the dark.

I am stepping right out of the background haze,

No longer content with a sideways gaze.

So look at me now, I am taking the floor,

I’m invisible, hidden, and quiet no more.

I am taking up space, I am raising my voice,

Being seen and being heard is my ultimate choice
