I spent too long standing in the gray,

Fading like morning mist at the break of day.

I swallowed my voice and I hid in the crowd,

Afraid to take up space, afraid to be loud.

I wore quiet colors to blend with the wall,

Hoping that nobody noticed at all.

I made myself small just to keep the peace,

Waiting for permission for the ghosts to cease.

But ghosts don't give permission, they just fade you out,

And silence is a cage built by your own doubt.

So I’m ripping the wallpaper off of my chest,

And laying the ghost of invisibility to rest.

Look at me now, I am stepping in the light,

Shedding the shadows and claiming the night.

No more invisible, no more unseen,

I am the fire, along with the queen
