Why is it, love, that you have flown

and left no touches, hugs, or kisses?

Now, I'm feeling left alone.

*

Our love -- developed, nurtured, grown,

was one of my life's biggest blisses.

I don't enjoy being left alone.

*

Your humor, the best I'd ever known,

one more thing that everyone misses.

I don't like being left alone.

*

I'll somehow make it on my own

despite the empty-feeling premises.

I really don't like being left alone.

*

Your absence chills me to the bone

and leaves me with unanswered wishes.

I cannot stand being left alone.

*

The silence is a constant drone,

and now I have but reminisces

of each and every milestone.

Now, I despise being left alone.

**

For my late husband, may he rest in peace.
