Being A Klutz

Nimble-footed, something I’ve never been,

Knocking over everything even the garbage bin.

From childhood until old age, I’ve been told,

That those abilities, that skill has yet to unfold.

I’ve never mentioned it often like many do,

How poised I may be because it’s not true.

I’m a klutz who messes up more than I straighten,

As I try my best to remain undiscovered there’s no mistaken.

From dropping glasses and plates onto the floor shattering,

To splitting garbage bags rotting food splattering.

Yes, I’m a klutz full of mistakes and no agility,

But try my best to get things done with my ability.

Washing dishes, laundry, and cooking my days fill,

Making beds, changing my car’s oil, even got ground to till.

It’s these things that I must do each day that many don’t see,

Because all I let them know is I’m a klutz let’s leave it be.

It’s the people in my house that need my help at this time,

From dawn, all day long, and evening hours not even a dime.

But I remind them that today is another day with few to follow,

When the Klutz that I am will complete my tasks without sorrow.

So, say what you will about those who serve those in need,

For they too may be a Klutz dropping beans or cups even seeds.

But one thing’s for sure that many will never know,

It’s the Klutzes who remain but aren’t seeking a halo.

For you see it’s just life for those of us who are Klutzes,

Thinking little of the servitude, simply moving without fusses.

For it’s not the end game that we seek to gain or achieve,

But with our actions of being a Klutz, we still seek a reprieve.

But I know and you know that's something we’ll never receive.
