Behind Me

something's behind me. I think.

By Kristina BrulePublished 5 months ago 1 min read

Tension chokes my throat

Ears hearing echoes of steps

Shadows pass by only the corners of my eye

“Click clack,” I look back

Nothing. Empty.

Lingering touches upon my clothes

A slight tug, a mere whisper

Faster I walk and more I keep my head down

Quick head turns, trying to see the feeling of the eyes watching me

A passing thought of walking backwards leaves my mind

“Right, left, right, left,” I tell myself, trying not to trip over my fear.

“Act normal,” I say

As if telling myself how to walk and watching over my shoulder is normal.
