Our Cycle

We are but a single brush stroke

Painted upon the canvas of time

We start out bright and vibrant

But end in dust and grime

Much like the written word

Over time we grow brittle

And yellow upon the page

Lost as all things are, to time and age

In the beginning we are graceful

Like a ballet dancer upon the stage

But slowly we lose our luster

As we inch ever closer to the grave

And nothing we’ll ever do can stop

The process we call life

So, live a life worth living

And go easy into the night
