Before Covid
Before Covid, I lived my life,
Mum and grandmother, happy wife.
The only ailments I suffered were few—
Arthritis, insomnia, nothing new.
I had dreams, they were out there,
Within my reach, without despair.
But then Covid came, and I fell ill,
My world turned grey; time stood still.
Weight gain, joint pain, tired but can’t sleep,
Eyesight problems, and all I could do was weep.
Nothing to do, just sit and pray,
Hoping this nightmare would go away.
Now I feel mental, I worry each day,
Every little pain takes peace away.
With physio, I try to get back again,
Exercise gentle, but life’s not the same.
I fear to go out; my mind’s in a dark place,
I just pray this will go soon, and again life I can face.
I want to enjoy again going out of the house
At my own steady before Covid pace.
