Becoming Yellow

a poem about discovering

adventures in yellow

i didn’t know

(and now i do)

my favorite color was yellow

until i was thirty-two

and i realized i

could wear the sunshine i

couldn’t locate in my soul

from years of black on grey on brown clothing

(hiding from self expression)

(choosing drab over joyful) until i decided

Yellow is my favorite color to wear

and i decided

i deserve the orange sherbert sunset hues

(and so do you)

with the golds and gleaming bursts of life

and i deserve the sunshine

so i will be

the sun itself

& when i wear my Yellow i

feel possible

as it lights up the

desire in me to

shine

~~thanks for reading my words, stay tuned for more~~
