Becoming the Banshee

Transformed by traumatic rage

By K.B. Silver Published about a year ago • 1 min read

I know one day

I’ll come across

Your name, your face

Your wounding voice

You'll appear in public

Walking free without fear

══════════════

In an instant

I’ll be transformed

Air inhaled, deep, and full

A shriek wailed out

An ear-splitting trill

Like a gusty gale

Blustering across the hall

Knocking all off their

Mindless course

══════════════

Onlookers will call out

Shaking fists in impotent

Rage at the destruction

Whilst I rise above on

Charred wings of

Soot and disgrace

Sucked from dangling jaws

Dropped open in shock as

I scream in accusation

And abject disgust

══════════════

Hovering above tousled heads

The only lingering tones

Unholy screeching blights

Cringing shock left

Contorting guilt-stricken faces

The only evidence I

Will ever collect

So I soak in my win

══════════════

While the squall whips up

All around

I continue to elevate

Above the ground

Lights flashing, debris crashing

Smashing onlookers and

Injured parties alike

The conflagration goes

Unnoticed, all unassaulted walk by

Without protest

A smoldering plasmic orb

Of rage and regret

Raining radioactive ash and

Fear down on your soul

I watch you melt into

The now tainted soil
