Becoming

The process of waking up.

Where am I? The heart quickens,

Sober

My head hurts… The world spins

Sober

Is that mine? Fingers twitch

Sober

Am I alive? The weight comes.

Sober

I need to move. Stillness

Sober

Please move. Stillness

Sober

Just one finger. A slight twitch

Sober

Okay, now the rest.

Sober

1, 2, 3, 4… A knock comes at the door.

Sober

“Oh, damn. Again?” In comes an old friend

Sober

… I’m. I-I can’t. “Just, stop. You can’t”

Sober

I’m awake. Go back to sleep.

Sober

I’m… I can… Go back to sleep.

Sober

I’m sorry. … Yeah, okay.

Sober

The weight prevails.

Sober

Please sleep well

Sober

Good morning, Love.

Sober

I love you when you’re…
