Beauty Redefined

Original Poem by Tamara Sawyer

By Tamara SawyerPublished 5 years ago • 1 min read

When I think of me, I think of a different image than what is actually seen

I think, "Is this what everybody sees?"

My pupils like microscopes, analyzing every pore

I've never seen a human being this hideous before

Beauty is not skin deep but, my thoughts have left a stain

I deeply apologize for any time I've caused somebody pain

But the time for sorry is over.

I finally gained some wisdom.

Now, every time my mouth says sorry, it shocks my nervous system.

That former version of myself is one you'll no longer see.

She was vulnerable and weak.

But, this new image in the mirror, is so beautiful to me.

My ugly habits made me whole.

It gave me a grand perspective.

Now, with opportunities, I'm so picky with my selections.

It's my life and no one else's.

Just me, myself and I.

When I fell in love with my true essence,

my beauty redefined.
