A Poem

A moment ago, I sat on a ledge.

Swinging my legs, I counted the beats between each intake of air.

My mind swirled with otherworldly concepts, things

I only dreamed of.

And some things,

which no dream nor thought nor word

can ever remove.

Beautifully,

I tried to carve my name in the stone,

tracing deliquately so I wouldn’t miss.

I left that which can be found.

I only hoped it was enough for when I proceeded on the long journey ahead.

I knew it won’t be long before I depart,

yet I committed

just

two

more

minutes

to staying

there.

Truthfully, I did not know where I was bound to go.

The universes held too many doors and I desired too many keys.

Utterly spoiled, I don’t see the reason in joining the conversation just yet.

Maybe I’ll stay here a while,

And see if my imagination manages to take me

somewhere other than the page.
