Today the word beauty means shallow
When looks matter more than substance.
Sense of self lost to makeup and shape
And pressure’s tight grip on freedom.
Efforts for favor burden respect
Till the beautiful are broken.
On display to the modern cynic
Spreads acclaim to an outward pride
Yet an inward struggle to survive
As media depletes reason
With their worn ‘What Not To Wear’ and ‘Vogue’.
No wonder economy fails
When the only jobs are for judges.
It’s no more a “white picket life.”
I say break off a picket and strike
Against the press and trending now.
And recognize how conformists hide
In masks comply with brainwashed acts.
Rebel against red carpet lies.
