Beating Backwards
A frightened person’s exclamation got me thinking…
Someone said ….
“My heart is beating backwards”
They were scared of course
But also on drugs…
I don’t know why
But that notion
Not one you’d ever expect to hear voiced
Spoke to me….
If your heart beat backwards
Would you be able to rewind time
Get younger with each beat?
Would your blood swoop to your brain
From left to right instead of right to left
If that’s how it travels
But your brain
And everything else
Still gets the oxygen it needs?
So long as it’s not broken
Your heart is strong
You might mishear it
But breathe deep
It will keep on
( I’m sure the someone was ok….)
