Beast Of Childhood

A poem inspired by Lord Of The Flies

I wrote this poem after studying the book Lord Of The Flies in 2010. It's meant to express what children think it would be like when they grow up.

Beast of childhood loves to toy,

Stealing our joyful pride,

Is the beast of every girl and boy,

Bribing our future life.

We'll release our power,

And have some real fun,

Taking back whatever is ours,

That day is soon to come.

Stress will be light on our backs,

Success around the corner,

Never again shall we ever slack,

Once we cross the border.

Sun will shine in the eyes of children,

Fuller our lives will be,

Creativity we shall breathe in,

On the day that sets us free.

Beast of childhood no longer toys,

As we rebuild our joyful pride,

Dead is the beast of every girl and boy,

As we control our future lives.
