Bealach na Bà
.

Bealach na Bà -
The ghost of cattle pass in pairs,
shaking the car as gusts of wind,
and spread in the shifting grass.
Each hairpin turn a lifetime on the ascent...
and at the top -
just sky.
The world drops at the edge of the viewpoint,
a hard line between sky and sea,
calling the metal cattle onward,
over the precipice.
The road stops here on the far side of the world.
You can sway on the edge of forever,
watch as the mists are hurled over ageless stone,
and feel the tilt as wheels creep...
as the world shifts.
Hold your breath -
you're nearly at the end.
