She exhaled slowly. “Where did you go?”Jamie took a step closer, eyes heavy. “I couldn’t breathe anymore. Everything in that town felt like drowning in memory. You were the only reason I stayed as long as I did.”
“So you left me with it all.” Jamie looked down. “Yeah. I did.” The sun was halfway gone now, bleeding into the ocean like it couldn’t help but fade. “I hated you for a long time,” Lena said, voice low.
“You had every right.” “But I never stopped missing you.” Jamie looked up at that, surprised. “Me neither.” Another pause. Not cold. Just quiet.
