We shred the moon in our dirty fists if only to do Something.
Waging the blood of torn battles without the fight itself.
Plastered in a ring of pretend joy the darkness created when we surrendered to its pull.
All 'cause we thought it held Something.
Never thought the ocean can drown my soul and leave my body behind, bereft. And then allow its waves to dance again.
The stars have betrayed me and my longing pupils at twilight when they should twinkle off my bruised, battered skin.
Still, I search them, wondering why, for G-d's sake, I need to Be Something.
We chase, we fly, we fall all for Something.
Maybe if I just Am, I'll actually know what to Be. Maybe I'll even come across what I want to Be.
Perhaps if I allow myself to be, shut myself up so the notes can play themselves, maybe a song will sing and it will Be.
Maybe a melody will soar and it will Be.
And perhaps, it will Be beautiful.
