Bath-Time Reverie

A short stream of consciousness

By Kenneth cruzPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

Drip drip drip

Water falls in the warm shallow still tub

Scrub scrub scrub

Dirt and grime left behind feels so sublime

I wish I could reach down deep and scrub all my insides

Yellow light bends casting a glow

A filter of its own

Leaving me with a yellow jaundice like glow

It’s the light, surely it’s the light

I’m not sick, if I was sick I’d know

Still my energy’s been low

I could lay and marinate in this self made lake for the rest of my days

What awaits me outside I leave to fate

Wet fingers fight to form words

Tick tick tick

Drops on my phone cause random characters to roam

Surely there will be typos in this poem

But what’s a life with out mistakes

At least I can go back and erase

In life we have more at stake

There’s no back key or delete, no copy and paste

I wash my face and the world seems to blur

I’ve just woke yet sleep seems like the perfect escape

The warm water soothes my every ache

My words are my own lullaby, and a nap I long to take.
