Angels banished from heaven
Will never find it again
But maybe they can find something
To confuse it with
Someplace not as perfect
But maybe warm
Maybe soft
And quiet
Ambrosia is lost to them
But they could have water
Bliss a memory beyond reach
But laughter can surprise anyone
And though pain is now ever-present
So too is pleasure
Hidden in a hug, a kiss
Or the furry texture of a silent friend
They may no longer be intrepid
But hope is not lost
As long as they strive to look forward
And keep their peeks back brief
Until they finally forget what was behind
Because today is finally enough
