away we fly.

it used to be together that we went,

but you let go of me

parted ways

and you're gone.

i fly alone,

up, up

on my beautiful balloon.

lonely, but floating in the air.

lightheaded,

guessing that you're gone forever

but not bothering anymore to think.

because

as

i fly alone,

up, up

on my lone balloon,

i stop thinking

because i am alone

and have no one to think to.

i run off,

floating upwards into the blue,

once with you and now without you

forever.

i saw you from a distance

when you let go

and found your own

small balloon.

i knew it would pop

but you left with the wind in your ears and your hair in your eyes

and i never got to tell you

not even goodbye.

i watched you go

weeping

and the clouds wept with me.

it rained on my

beautiful balloon.

i thought we could escape together.

be together forever.

how long is forever?

does forever last forever?

or is it just a fake promise that comes from the mouths

of children,

not understanding what forever is?

not knowing that the future

splits you apart

away from me and my balloon

and over to your own?

is forever just an idea that little kids have

when they run away in the green fields of dreamland

and tell each other

to stay together forever?

i fly alone,

up, up

on my beautiful balloon

because we were children when we said that

children when we promised

children when we thought

best friends forever.

still, i float

higher and higher

up and up

until i know that your balloon is gone

and so are you.

i reach the dreams we once had alone.

and i still think of you,

even as

i fly alone,

up, up

on my beautiful balloon.

away i fly.
