She looks so graceful as she falls through the air. A ballerina, tiptoeing across the wind.

My favourite ballet has always been the red shoes. She is so enamoured by the red shoes that she cannot help herself but have them.

The shoes don’t let her go.

They dance her to the brink of madness and over the edge of exhaustion. She dances herself to death, all for the little red shoes she had been so infatuated with.

When I look up from my nostalgia, it’s not just her shoes that are red.

The rocks beneath her body have been painted too.
