Balancing

Releasing what isn't meant for me

July 2024

In a whirlwind of turmoil
I forgot my purpose
I was blinded by sacrifice
dripping down my sleeves
I loved in an evil way
Please, look at me
I gave to get
I preyed and sweat
I wanted more, never satisfied
until I surrendered
Not at your feet
but at my own

I abandoned myself
To follow you home
Our homes are not the same
Mine does not smell of rot
Mine does not forget my name
I lived in your dirty darkness
Forsaking my own being
I allowed you to eat me up
and steal all my dreams

Now I sit on mossy rocks
in peaceful bliss alone
Learning who I am meant to be
and dreaming my own life in me
Out of numbness, I crawled
Searching for the best of me
I cannot lie about it all
I am the one, who did all this, to me
Taking responsibility
Letting go of expectations
Releasing, floating, frolicking
Happy, to be free

I let go of the darkness
not fully
To let the light in to balance
Now I know my blackest black
and I'm learning my brightest white
together they are intertwined
like a dove and raven may be
some may say forbidden fruit
but that someone isn't me
