Rolling out the Dough

The memories always start with lots of flour.

The beauty of my granny gave me the power.

Of expressing the years gone by.

Often a gentle tear rolled out of my eye.

For the joy she brought to her family.

Right down to the most exquisite aqua Christmas tree.

Boxing Day was the day we all went to her home.

Lots of food, family and children roam.

The joy of just being together, having fun.

Granny giving you more treats than one.

From Chocolate Cherry Balls to Shortbread too.

Pigs in a blanket, and lots of stew.

All those traditions are carried on, starting with flour.

Granny's spirit is always there, even for only an hour.
