Awoken

A destruction of doubt

I have lost myself

In the search for who I am

In the hopes of who I am going to be

In the changes I have forced

To make myself more palatable

To other’s tongues

I have dimmed my light

By trying to cover

The best parts of myself

Thinking it would make me

Easier to look at

But there’s a reason they tell you

Not to stare into the sun

I am going to be so bright

I will burn the world I have created

I will light the rooftops

I will spark such a flame

That there will be nothing left

And I will rebuild again

With a temple worthy

Of the goddess I am meant to be

I will worship at her feet

I will blaspheme her no more

She will singe

Every doubt I have in myself

And out of the ashes I will rise

I have found myself

In the cleanliness of her chaos

I was never lost

I was simply buried

Under the soil of my own self doubt

No more will I sacrifice

To the wrong gods

No more.
