Awaken

Sonnet 1

By Hudson CaponiPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

I walk alone down the moonlit halls

The gentle sound of rain on the window.

The sight of veiléd eyes behind the walls.

Outside dips the lovely weeping willow.

And the delicate smell of crisp night air

Lulls me away from the waking world here.

But nothing shall greet the sweet moonlit fear,

Where subtle hues of grey and white fall near.

And kings and queens sit upon pale rain-clouds

Lightning flashes through the open arch ways

And leaves the world under a broken shroud.

Where empty hearts hide in empty hallways

But dawn comes and scares away the dew,

And leaves the world a soft innocent hue.
