Avoidant Type

by Sam Harty

By ᔕᗩᗰ ᕼᗩᖇTYPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

I guess I should of known better before I took you in

but you were so alone and in need of a friend

I didn't think that you'd cause me any strife

I saw who you were, hell I could have been you

in another life.

--

We shared a lot of words. So many more than

I'm ever used to saying but it was a nice break from

the normal chats I have and I felt no need to be

complaining.

--

I don't know when I felt things changing

You were so very good with words but

many times I left feeling maybe

I had caused you hurt.

--

Don't get me wrong, our chats were a pleasure

I told you you're a gem and I meant it. I just started

to worry that you were getting closer than I

originally had intended.

--

The more time we spent together the more trapped

I started to feel, I don't talk to anyone every day

my best of friends included, I'm not sure you see me

for who I really am, because you seem slightly deluded.

--

I'm beginning to think I feel resentment towards the

time we spent together like things are moving too

fast for me, like there's somewhere else I'd rather be.

--

This friendship is causing me stress. How did this turn

into such a mess? Can't you see I'm drowning in your

expectations, oh so close to the brink? No, don't look

up to me, I'm not as nice as you think.
