Avocado Blossoms

They quench some of my nostalgia

By Seema PatelPublished about a year ago • 1 min read
Avocado blossoms @Seema

I grew up in

tropical India

in a rural house

with big backyard

full of mango trees.

Came spring and

the fragrant blooms

made it a paradise.

What joy it was

to walk under that

scented floral haven!

Then destiny brought me

to a foreign land,

a different latitude,

subtropical climate.

No mango trees here.

The plants once I

took for granted

became a dream.

But then, near us,

there are avocado orchards.

There leaves and blossoms

resemble those of mango —

Not the same sweet scent,

yet they quench

some of my nostalgia.

Now I roam near

the abloom avocado trees

imagining it's mango.
